Barcode-driven document filing for Windows

Scan the stack.
Everything lands where it belongs.

Sqrted reads the barcode on each separator sheet, splits the scan into individual documents, and files every one into the exact folder and file name written into that barcode. No sorting. No renaming. No dragging files around.

How it works

Three steps, then it's just… done

  1. 1

Put a barcode on the front of each document

The barcode holds the destination - a folder path and file name, like PODs/2026-08/POD-44821. Print separator sheets, or use barcodes your system already produces.

  2. 2

Scan the whole stack in one go

Your scanner drops a single multi-page PDF into a folder. That folder is all Sqrted watches - one line of setup naming where its documents belong.

  3. 3

    Press Run

Sqrted splits the batch at every barcode, creates any folders it needs, and files each document under its own name. Originals move to processed; anything unreadable goes to error so nothing disappears quietly.

Features

Built for people who actually run the scanner

Dry run before you commit

See exactly where every document would be filed - including name clashes and unreadable pages - without a single file being created, moved or logged.

Many sources, many destinations

Each source folder carries its own destination. A depot's scans, the workshop's dockets and head-office invoices can all file to completely different places at once.

Works with the cloud you already have

File into any synced folder - OneDrive, SharePoint, Dropbox, a network drive. No API keys, no OAuth, no connector to configure.

Never silently overwrites

Choose per destination: keep both copies with a numbered suffix, replace the old file, or hold the duplicate aside for a human to check.

A record of everything

Searchable history of every run, plus a plain-text log and a CSV listing each document, its barcode, page range and where it landed. Auditable, and easy to feed elsewhere.

Runs without you

Turn on watching and documents file themselves as they arrive, from the app or as a Windows Service. If anything needs a human, it emails you or posts to Teams or Slack.

Works with the barcodes you already have

If your barcodes are plain job numbers rather than paths, routing rules turn them into destinations. A lookup table handles the cases rules can't.

Separator sheets, built in

Print QR separator sheets straight from the app: type the destinations or paste a CSV of jobs, then put a sheet in front of each document.

Reads difficult scans

When a page doesn't read first time, Sqrted cleans the image up and tries again, so faint, grey and washed-out scans still come through. PDF and multi-page TIFF both work.

Why Sqrted

The barcode decides the whole path - not just the file name

Most barcode filing tools split and rename a batch, then drop everything into one output folder. Sqrted treats the barcode as an address.
